Love lingers in the air! Spirits soared high this Valentine’s Day, and Broad Run had all the perfect ways to make this holiday special for those you love. Even if you don’t have a significant other in your life, Broad Run was able to make your friends feel special—and you, too.

Students could practically taste the sweetness of this loving holiday right around the corner: “I think Valentine’s Day is a really fun tradition. I like the idea of celebrating love just for the sake of celebrating it,” said senior Yasemin Saidoglu. “I think that a lot of hate for it is unwarranted; everyone can celebrate in their own way. You don’t need a romantic lover to celebrate. […] I think Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love in all forms.”

“I think Valentine’s Day is a sweet day,” added sophomore Maddie Korin. “It’s a very emotional day for people.” Not all students shared this sentiment, however: “I hate Valentine’s Day. It’s the worst day of the year,” junior Sanjana Malyala argued.

Though Singing Valentines were silenced this year, their ballads of love still echoed through the hallways this February 14th. Instead of a musical melody, loving notes became available—they came with a personalized cookie delivery from Cupid’s Cookies. These delicious treats brought smiles to many faces on both A and B days, as they were delivered on the 14th and the 15th so that nobody was left out.

All in all, this Valentine’s Day was a heart-fluttering, eyelash-batting, hair-twirling success. Though some aspects of the holiday have changed at Broad Run, others remain the same—and may even return next year.
