Everyone has been fascinated with the new movie, Smile. Smile came out in theaters on September 30, 2022, and it has taken the theaters by storm. Smile premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 22, 2022, but the movie was released in theaters as of September 30th, 2022, by Paramount Pictures. 

Smile received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the jumpscares. The movie was also a huge success, making $141.4 million on a $17 million budget. Smile is about how Dr. Rose Carter, after witnessing a traumatizing event with a patient, starts seeing frightening things that she cannot explain. As terror starts to take over her life, Rose starts to look for an explanation as to why these things are happening to her.

The movie was a big hit, and many people have enjoyed it. Junior Bizzie Ashley thought the movie was really good. She said, “I think the main character’s development was well but I think the sound effects did more when it came to scariness.” Freshman Nick Jordan also said, “The movie wasn’t that scary, but it had a couple of good scares. Overall, the movie Smile was a good movie.” Sophomore Ronan Huizar agreed, saying, “The movie was kinda scary, like a 6 out of 10. Smile was a pretty good movie but I think it could have been better. Although many people watched and loved the movie, there is a good portion of people who watched it that thought it was scary and wasn’t that good.” Junior Meghan Hyatt said, “I think the main thing that made the movie scary was the amount of jumpscares in the movie, also the eerie atmosphere and general effect definitely helped too. It’s also very important to pay attention as you watch it or the plot can be confusing.” Junior Aj Grabins thought the movie was awful and that she wouldn’t watch it again. She said, “Smile wasn’t bad, but I didn’t like it just because it was a horror movie. The movie was very scary and I don’t want to watch it again.” For me personally, I think Smile was great. There was a lot of suspense and some great jump scares that made the movie very thrilling. The movie was a little scary but that was to be expected. It was a great film and the actors were very good as well.

 I loved this movie and I recommend it to anyone who is into horror/suspenseful type movies. The reviews for this movie were mixed as some people said they loved it, and some hated it. Some thought it was really scary, while others thought it only had a couple of jumpscare, but overall it wasn’t too scary. Overall, Smile was a great movie to watch, regardless of how scary it might have been.
