The Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI with a 23-20 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati was doomed from the very beginning after they won the coin toss – the last 7, now 8 teams that have won the coin toss, end up losing the Super Bowl. Tennis icon Billie Jean King joined in on the coin toss fun.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson marked the start of the big game by introducing the Bengals and the Rams. “It is time for all of us here and millions around the world to bear witness to these incredible players. Who will leave every ounce of sweat, guts and pride and legacy on this hallow field because that’s what champions do. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to say, finally, it is time for the Super Bowl,” said Johnson.

Both the Bengals and the Rams came up empty on their first possessions. Quarterback Matt Stafford threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. leading to a Rams touchdown. A slow start for the Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow threw a 46-yard pass to  Ja’Marr Chase bringing the Bengals down to the Rams’ 11-yard line. Cincinnati couldn’t go any further and had to settle for a field goal. The Rams lead 7-3 through the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Stafford connected with Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp from the 11-yard line scoring the Ram’s second touchdown for the big game. Due to a fumbled snap by the kick holder, the Rams were unable to gain the extra point. Bengals running back Joe Mixon passed to Tee Higgins to score Cincinnati’s first touchdown of the night, cutting the Rams’ lead to 13-10. This play is the fifth time a non-quarterback has thrown a touchdown in the Super Bowl. As the first half winds down the Rams are in the lead with 13-10.

Snoop Dogg

The Pepsi halftime was full of nostalgia for old people. It featured Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige, with a surprise performance from 50 Cent.

After hearing Eminem spit out his song “Lose Yourself”, Bengals QB JoeyB threw a 75-yard pass to Tee Higgins. The play was Higgins’ second touchdown of the game. Just 12 seconds into the third quarter the Bengals led 17-13. The Bengals immediately extended their lead with kicker Evan McPherson scoring a 38-yard field goal, making the core 20-13 for the Bengals. Cincinnati finished off the 3rd quarter in the lead with 20-16.

When we were all confident in the Bengals victory, the Rams turned the game around. With less than a minute in a half, Stafford passed to Cooper Kupp on 2nd and goal from the 1-yard line scoring the game-winning touchdown. On 4th down for the Bengals, Rams lineman Aaron Donald pressured Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow into a flailing pass attempt that was incomplete, successfully securing LA’s 23-20 victory.
