Beloved pop artist, Olivia Rodrigo, has been teasing her newest album. After two smash successes, three grammies, 4 VMA awards, and at least seven top ten billboard awards, fans are counting down the days until her new music is released. Morgan Bucker, 10th grader, responds “I love Olivia, she’s such a brilliant writer and she has not released a song I don’t like”. Olivia has been baiting her fans by releasing covers of songs, like “The Book of Love”, and supposed pictures for the new album are circulating, but she has yet to confirm or deny the rumors, or officially release anything.
At the five year mark of her debut album and first record breaking song, ‘Driver’s license’, she has been hinting at a new album releasing out sometime soon, with speculated rumors about singles dropping sometime in March or April. After the long awaited release of new music, fans are going crazy and are counting down the days. “I am so excited for this, I have been waiting for genuinely like three years!” Buckler exclaims. Rumors are washing through the internet about the album cover, song names, and album title, but Olivia has stayed silent the whole time. “I’ve seen album covers and song names [on the internet], but I’m not sure if they’re true or not.” Grace Luby, sophomore, adds. Many fans believe that it will be called ‘Luck’, and drop on March 14th, but the probability of this is low, as the album has not yet been completed.
Some of Olivia’s photos from a recent photo shoot have spread around the media, and the scene depicts a red background and her in a black dress. Following the tradition of four letter album titles, fans also speculate the title being, ‘Kiss’ or ‘Fire’, but whatever the name may be, Olivia sure has some hit songs in store for us. The album is scheduled to drop at the latest, being August 2026, in order for the songs to clear for the 2027 grammys. Many fans speculate around early summer, late May, but the belief for many is to have new favorite songs long before summer ends. “I love [Olivia Rodrigo], she’s my favorite singer.” Luby continued. “I’m so excited for new works.” The famous OR mural, featured in Hollywood, has stated purple for many years, as was the color of her hit albums. When the sun rose on March 19th, the mural was completely pink. “The wall started out purple, and it has slowly been shifting to pink.” Buckler explains. Many fans are speculating about albums such as ‘Love’ and the fandom has accepted this color change with open arms. “I am almost positive that the album will be pink with love as the theme.” Buckler inserts.
Even though the original era of Olivia Rodrigo has ended, fans are excited to see what comes next. With the fresh breakup of Olivia and Louis Partridge, fans hope to hear revenge songs and melancholy ballads. Buckler says again, “I’ve heard that it’s going to have lots of sad love songs, which I personally love since I find the lyrics very interesting.” Buckler adds, “It’s because they’re written with such a teenage heart that it connects to so many kids.” No matter the thoughts on Olivia Rodrigo, until the unannounced date, we can only wonder and hope for new songs to blast at full volume on our stereos.
