Excitement buzzes throughout the globe as Jujutsu Kaisen, Guinness World Record holder for the world’s most in demand animated TV show, starts their season 3 debut. A vastly popular franchise, even famous singer Megan Thee Stallion has a hit song featuring the voice actors and JJK references. With very high ratings and immense audience engagement throughout seasons 1-2, many JJK fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes. From intense visuals, charming characters, exhilarating storylines, and an enjoyable soundtrack, JJK has raked in hundreds of millions globally, and a highly active fandom. Will this new season make or break the popular franchise of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen started off as a very successful manga in 2018, under the great Weekly Shonen Jump, Japan’s most popular manga magazine, also featuring well known names such as My Hero Academia, and One Piece. It quickly became one of the most favored mangas, selling over 150 million copies by late 2025, surpassing One Piece, one of the most famous manga and anime series in the world. JJK quickly turned into a TV show, taking pictures to the big screen roughly 2.5 years after its manga debut. The response was well received, winning “Anime of the year” at the 2021 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Sophomore Sarah McCarthy shared her thoughts: “I think it does [deserve the award]. It’s definitely properly hyped.”
Around two years later, season two dropped, being another big hit among audiences, though some fans criticized the show due to the sudden intensity and character development. Reviewers praised the “fluid and dynamic animation” calling the anime a “complete masterpiece”, while some felt the show was “boring” and “too fast paced” for their liking. Sophomore Grace Luby argued: “I prefer season one because it was a lot lighter and just had more silly parts with all the characters. Season two was more heavy and dark but I still thought it was good.” No matter the reviews, JJK has proven to be extremely successful economically, with creator and owner Gege Akutami pulling in millions from the hit franchise.
With the debut of season three around the corner, JJK fans are eagerly anticipating the continuation of the story, already expected to be one of the biggest anime events of 2026. Will this new season be hot or not?
