The well-known actor and celebrity, Barry Keoghan, is a cheater. Maybe.
In mid February of 2024, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan confirmed the circulating rumors they were dating. Things seemed to be going smoothly: Keoghan would occasionally be posted up with Carpenter and even made an appearance on her hit music video “Please, Please, Please”. Flash forward to almost a year, and now there are rumors they split due to Keoghan cheating.
After Keoghan and Carpenter were seen out in public but not together, it wasn’t long before Keoghan came out with a statement regarding the situation.
December 6th of 2024, Keoghan released a statement on X about the hate he has been receiving due to the break-up: “Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.” He added, “I can only sit and take so much. My name is being dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to.”
Just a day later, Breckie Hill, an influencer popular on Tiktok, came out with a video addressing the entire situation. As just weeks before, Hill had been the “other woman” fans and others were speculating Keoghan cheated on Carpenter with. The only reason this rumor came about is solely on the fact that Hill was liking and reposting videos saying that she cheated with Keoghan. However, she quickly shut the rumors down. She even said, “I have never encountered this man in my life” and went on to say that she simply just found the videos funny and entertaining.
Not surprising that it didn’t take very long for all this to explode over social media and turn the spotlight over to Carpenter. It was her turn to respond. Would she confirm the cheating rumors?
Well, during an interview on December 13th, Carpenter finally spoke up and shared her side of the story with us. She told us that the rumors about her former “cheating” boyfriend, Keoghan, are, in her words, “completely false”. “It’s challenging when personal issues become public fodder. There are two people in a relationship, and only they truly understand what went on,” she added. Carpenter finally went on to say that she was going to focus her energy into her fans and successful career.
It’s hard to tell if she is covering up to protect Keoghan’s peace, or if he really didn’t cheat and all of the rumors were lies. I asked Senior, Jaylin Ventura, her thoughts: “I’ve seen them around on social media a lot and I saw that he cheated on her. I don’t know if I believe that because he doesn’t seem like the type of person to do that. I think it was just like a mutual break up.”
Fans, like Ventura, are sad to see this media breaking relationship come to an end, but there is still hope. According to an insider of Keoghan, “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break”. So maybe we’ll see them again together soon?
I guess we’ll never truly know if the cheating rumors were real or fake. For now, the spotlight is still on these two celebrities. And who knows, maybe Carpenter will release a song in a few months spilling all the secrets behind this two year long relationship.
