“More than the students but they are all my friends” (Ms.Naomi)
Working with a high school of impatient teenagers during lunch time seems like it would be incredibly taxing and difficult. Let us take a look into Broad Run’s lunch staff: meet Ms. Naomi.
Ms. Naomi started working at Broad Run two years after she came to America. Her mother-in-law works as a custodian in Broad Run and introduced her to her job. Now, Ms. Naomi has been working as a lunch lady here for 6 years.
“I like this school specifically, I like the principal and the outside.” (Ms.Naomi)
When asked what she enjoys about her job, she happily responds, “I learned a lot about students and started working here 2 years after coming to America. I talk to the students and learn a lot about them.”
Ms. Naomi will continue to be incredibly kind without fail. As students, we tend to overlook the staff that works tirelessly everyday to support our school and our learning. Whenever given the chance, she participates in small talks and creates bonds with students. Ms. Naomi specifically would be happy to learn more about the students. Next time you are buying lunch, smile, say thank you, and ask her about her day.
