NEST4US is a non-profit organization helping to strive towards people who are in need the most in the community of Ashburn, Virginia. As well as the CEOs and Co-Founders of NEST4US are 2 sisters, Shreeya Venkat and Esha Venkat. They have won many awards regarding their helpful contributions to global impacts around the world. They have many helpful events in which volunteers that are up to ages 5 and up so therefore, their volunteers are around many ages that don’t limit a person into helping our city of Ashburn. Something amazing that the NEST4US non-profit organization does is community distributions.
A bit more about the NEST4US community distributions is that they strive to leave every car with some sort of food. They have over 10 volunteers for their community distributions and most of them are teenagers who need volunteer hours. After the volunteers show up, they each get assigned to a certain job to help out with the distribution event. CEO and Co-Founder of NEST4US as well as Broad Run graduate Shreeya Venkat says,”We love doing these community distributions because it helps target our global impact we want to make for people in need.” They each get a shopper bag and fill it up with vegetables in one bag, fruits in another bag, and have another bag for books for kids to read. They also have bread and pastries that are already settled up for the volunteers.
Then, when it’s time, the volunteers take a quick selfie with everyone who helped contribute to the packing and hard work that came with organizing the event. After that, the President of NEST4US, Anu Raghunathan gives all of the volunteers their role for the day. Then, someone has a stop sign that lets us know when the cars are coming by, once the car comes by, he will ask them how many families are in the backseat. If there is 1 family, then we give them one or two items depending on how much they want it. If there are 2 families in the backseat, then the volunteers will double up on the fruits, vegetables, bread and pastries. 11th grader Sanaa Smithen says,”I like how they let families choose which items they want or don’t want in their car so they have options.” It also depends on if a family wants bread or pastors and if they don’t, then the volunteers won’t give it to them. After that, the volunteers will put the goods in the backseat and the last volunteer will close the trunk then the rest moves on.
Finally, once the community distributions are over with, the volunteers will help clean everything up once handled with. And then the volunteers will call their parents home. Also, the NEST4US organization helps leave volunteers snacks and drinks with water provided if they’re ever needed to fuel themselves towards the hard work they will help impact our community overtime. The NEST4US non-profit organization helps strive for better impact whether it’s globally, nationally or worldwide. This is also just one general event this organization does, but there are many more opportunities and events they have on their website, so be sure to check that out!
