The Icy Tour: Twenty One Pilots

Released on May 21st, 2021, ‘Scaled and Icy’ is Twenty One Pilots’ sixth studio album. 546 days after dropping the album, they have announced a tour! Going from Russia to Washington DC, there are 24 shows in the U.S and 15 out of the country shows.

Let’s talk about the band. If you don’t know Twenty One Pilots, or you’ve only heard of them through one of their popular songs in 2015, you’ve come to the right place. Originating in Columbus Ohio, this band has come a long way since its roots. Twenty-One Pilots consists of Joshua Dunn (the drummer) and Tyler Joseph (the lead singer). Previously there were two other members, but eventually, they left, and Josh joined, and the band became a duo.

Tyler is married and has a 1-year-old daughter named Rosie and a baby on the way. Josh isn’t too far behind he has been married to Debby Ryan from Disney Channel since 2019. Behind the scenes of the most recent ‘Takeover Tour,’ we saw how family involved this band really is. Hopefully, we get to see more of that content in this new upcoming part of the tour!

Now let’s talk about the album. Scaled and Icy is TOP’s most recent drop since 2018. Since then, the band hasn’t been active other than dropping singles every now and then, such as ‘Cancer’, ‘Level of Concern’, or ‘Christmas Saves the Year’. Scaled and Icy consists of 11 tracks running at 37 minutes and 42 seconds. The album cover is so much different than their normal style. Their previous albums were grey-black or red-themed, so this pink and blue is a drastic but much-needed change. It also has a huge blue dragon on it deemed the name “Trash”. According to Tyler, it represents “inspiration”, “fear”, and “magic”. He wanted it to “tie the songs to something as powerful as that”. Personally, I find trash adorable.

Here’s the tracklist:

“Good day”

“Shy Away”

“The Outside”

“Never Take It”

“Mulberry Street”

“Bounce Man”

“No Chances”

Scaled and Icy’ in my opinion is one of Twenty One Pilots’ greatest masterpieces. The sounds are new, fresh, upbeat, and really just colorful. Even though the album title is an anagram for “Clancy is Dead”, Clancy is the protagonist from their previous album “Trench”. It still gives off a great vibe to listen to. Especially with their first track being “Good Day”. Give the album a listen if you haven’t already. I really recommend it.

In conclusion, I’m buying tickets asap.
